Lexington Friends Come to Visit

 What a perfect day for a visit.

We had a wonderful time hosting the volunteers and staff of the Stonewall Jackson House and the VMI Museum.  There was lots of great fellowship, some awesome period eats, provided by you, and a good day all around.

All: I have come expect a great presentation from the volunteers and yesterday was no exception. I know how much effort and preparation that goes into the simplest presentation. You all were exceptional!

I wanted to thank you and your staff for a most delightful visit on Wednesday! We enjoyed a very warm welcome, delightful goodies (please share the recipes!), and a fun tour inside the museum and at the Bushong House. The volunteers were wonderful with their engaging conversations and gracious hospitality, and the period costuming added so much to their interaction with the group.

For Montie and me, it was indeed great to be home and to again enjoy the unique setting of the battlefield, the museum, the farm and the story it loves to tell so well, all of which was heightened by the extra effort through you and your staff!

Dear Keith, Barbara, Troy, Stacey, and all the Volunteers at New Market,

Thank you so much for all the effort that each of you put into our Fall Trip. All I heard yesterday from the volunteers who participated was how wonderful it was. One person told me she thought it was one of the best we had ever had! Another told me that she loved going because she learned so much.

Each of you played a big part in the success of this trip. Thank you Keith for suggesting the VMI transportation, for driving, and for making the connections with Troy and Rod Graves. Thank you, Barbara, for guiding us through the maze of paperwork associated with VMI travel and for providing such a great driver! Thank you Troy for an excellent demonstration and interpretation of the battle. Your passion for what you do was evident to everyone. Thank you Stacey for the wonderful period food, your well-trained and beautifully costumed volunteers, and for keeping us running perfectly on time (not an easy task!). Many of our volunteers hope to return and do an even more in-depth visit (including me). Please extend our thanks to all the volunteers and staff at New Market. We really enjoyed getting to know them. Some of our folks cited the fellowship with your volunteers as the highlight of the trip.
