Once again the New Market Battlefield will be a collection site for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. Please consider bringing a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more for our collection. Toys collected will be distributed to needy children in our area. Please invite your friends to come for Christmas on the Farm, December 5th from 10:00 AM to 3:00PM. And be sure to let them know that each person bringing a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more will be admitted free!!!
Volunteer Training and Refresher!
November 7, 2009 has been set aside for a New Volunteer Training Workshop and an Active Volunteer Refresher Course. Come in park uniform from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We'll take an hour for lunch so feel free to bring a brown bag lunch or plan to head into town for some midday sustenance. New volunteers will receive their official training including visitor services, public speaking and storytelling, introduction to the Battle of New Market and a closer look at the Bushong family. Active volunteers will be able to participate in refresher level tours of the Battle of New Market and the Bushong Family. We'll also use this time to look at new research.
